Vein disease is a worldwide issue with millions developing some form of it during the year. Whether your vein disease develops as varicose veins or spider veins, you will need treatment so your skin can look its best again. Here are three of our vein disease treatment that really works to treat vein disease:
Endovenous Laser Ablation
One of the most common and noticeable forms of vein disease is varicose veins. This type of vein disease presents as thick and rope-like veins under the surface of your skin. While varicose veins may not be dangerous at first, if left untreated, they can create further issues that treatments will need to focus on. Avoid any future risks and treat your varicose veins as soon as possible. One of our most popular and effective treatments is known as endovenous laser ablation. This treatment can be performed right in our office so no visit to the hospital is required. Endovenous laser ablation only requires local anesthetic and a small incision to complete the treatment. We will make this tiny incision on the treatment site, after which a laser will seal the impacted vein. The vein will eventually be absorbed back into your body. There is no reason to fret, as our body will naturally redirect blood flow through the other healthy veins in the area.
The results of endovenous laser ablation are just as incredible as the procedure itself. Our patients will recover extremely fast and be able to walk right after the procedure has been completed. Some patients may experience some discomfort following the procedure but over the counter pain medication will help with any pain. An alternative to endovenous laser ablation is radiofrequency ablation that works in a similar fashion but instead uses radiofrequency waves instead of a laser.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
As shown, we can close up faulty veins using laser technology or radiofrequency waves. When it comes to spider veins, it can be tricky to find these smaller veins under the skin. When this is the case, we recommend our ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. Our ultrasound screen will easily locate these small veins. The procedure is painless, ensuring you remain comfortable the entire time. With the ultrasound direction we can find the affected veins and inject a sclerosant. This substance is completely harmless yet causes faulty veins to spasm and close. Sclerosant is especially effective at treating saphenous veins that feed into spider veins. Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is a terrific treatment option for those wishing to avoid surgical options that can leave patients with a lengthy recovery time.
Vein Phlebectomy
The unsightly look to varicose veins can leave most individuals feeling down about themselves. The rope-like appearance can bulge and harden along the surface of your skin, typically down the legs. While some options such as vein stripping are more invasive, we typically recommend a minimally invasive treatment first like vein phlebectomy. This procedure is similar to vein stripping, as it physically removes the faulty veins, but does so in a way to reduce the length of your recovery time.
Vein phlebectomy works by numbing the area impacting by your varicose veins. This numbing ensures you will not feel a thing whenever the veins are removed. After the numbing, we will use a scalpel to make tiny incisions along the vein line. This incision will allow us to insert a small hook under the skin remove the faulty veins. This is one of our most successful treatment options as it boasts over a 90% success rate! Our physicians can complete your vein phlebectomy in under an hour.
While some patients may initially think a vein phlebectomy will take weeks to heal, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that is not the case. Since the incisions are so small, your treated area will not require any stiches. Instead, we will apply a compression garment that will help blood flow and promote overall healthy healing. Some patients may even be able to return to daily activities within 24 hours while strenuous physical activity is not recommended until two weeks after the procedure is complete.
